The 2025 Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway

Welcome to the Lady in Black-Darlington Raceway. Good luck with this one folks, they call it to tough to tame for a reason. After 75 years of wear and tear, you'll be slipping and sliding-and then probably end up in the wall. Actually, the wall is where you gain speed, but you don't need to hit it. Who will tame it today? Let's find out.

The first caution was on the opening lap when Josh Berry got in the gas to hard and spun around, taking Tyler Reddick with him. Berry suffered major rear end damage, causing him to rejoin over one hundred laps down.

Playoff driver Chase Briscoe would win the first stage after dominating most of the race.

The yellow flag waved on lap 203 when Cody Ware got a shove from Ryan Preece, causing contact with the wall and providing him with a flat tire. Ware couldn't hang on to his no. 51 machine and spun, but he wasn't the only one with problems. Briscoe-who had still dominating-had reported alternator issues.

A while later, Derek Kraus suffered what must have been an engine expiration, and there was a huge fire in the front of the car. Which didn't help his not-so-great run in the southern 500.

With one lap to go, Chase Briscoe was able to push through his issues and got up front again, but Reddick was catching. The 45 made one final move in the last turn, but the driver from Mitchell, Indiana won back-to-back Southern 500's.

Well, Briscoe has now advanced to the Round of 12, so he can feel good about himself. But others are still fighting. Will we see another driver in competion for the chamionship? Or will a non-playoff driver come and steal the show?
