Welcome to the tricky triangle, Pocono Raceway. With a large turn 1, a tight tunnel turn with bumps on the exit, and a turn 3 similar to the first onto the longest straightaway in NASCAR. Allright, it's article time.
The yellow flag waved on lap 42 when Riley Herbst had a brake rotor problem and went into the outside wall. The hard contact was enough to take him out of the race.
During yellow flag pit stops, when AJ Almendinger tried to pull into his pit box, and hit the tire right out of his tire carier's hand. The tire went flying toward the pit box of the no. 88, and hit a pit crew member. I felt bad for him because those tires are heavy.
On lap 54 and 73, two drivers had similar issues to the 35 of Herbst. His teammate Bubba Wallace blew a brake rotor, and could not complete the race. Then on lap 73, Micheal Mcdowell had the same problem, but luckily for him, he was able to keep it off the wall and no caution was thrown.
Throughout most of stage 3, Chase Briscoe was able to hold off his JGR teammate and 7-time Pocono winner, Denny Hamlin.
I was hoping that race would be a little more entertaining than it was. As I mentioned last article, we head to a newly renamed track-Echopark Motor Speedway, formerly known as Atlanta Motor Speedway.
