After that cup race on Saturday night, Atlanta is my new favorite track. I feel like all Cup races should be run on Saturday nights, it's just so entertaining! So, lets get recapping people!
The first caution was on lap 36 for rain, then a few minutes later we got the engines fired again. Next, on lap 57, Christopher Bell got loose in turns 3 and 4, causing him to spin and ruining several driver's nights. I forgot to mention, this was the first race of the In-Season Challange for $1,000,000, and Dale Jr. said something like: "Everybody throw away your brackets, there all busted."
At the very beginning of stage 2, Denny Hamlin tried to push John Hunter Nemechek, and instead put the no. 42 machine in the wall, and Hamlin spun. This ultimately triggered the big one in Hampton, collecting many innocent drivers like William Byron, Ross Chastain, and others. Hamlin being Hamlin.
I also noticed that it seemed like whoever got behind Chase Elliott, shot up the track immediately. It happened to Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and he broke a toe link. It happened to somebody else as well, but I can't remember who it was.
Towards midnight, the white flag waved in the peach state. Brad Keselowski was leading the pack, and had been doing good throughout the race. Then, in turn 1, Elliott made an epic last lap pass on Keselowski. It happened when the 9 forced Brad up the track and got under him. Oh, did I forget to mention? He won in his home state.
That was epic! And it doesn't stop there. The Xfinity and Cup levels head up north to Chicago for some good ol' street racing.
